Do respro masks protect against NOx compounds? At what levels? Are there any harmful compounds found in traffic that respro masks do not proct against? NOx, O3, organics, etc?

      Hi Andrew,

The filter in the Techno mask contains DACC (Dynamic activated charcoal cloth) this is used for the uptakes of various gaseous components emitted from cars. This includes NOX compounds and the resultant components of the breakdown of NO via sunlight to produce NO2 and LLO (Low level Ozone). As levels of these components vary with atmospheric conditions it is not possible for us to be more explicit. I can confirm DACC has an excellent uptake capacity for SO2 and NO2 and VOC’s present in the cocktail of exhaust emissions. The filter will not remove CO as this requires an elevated temperature (beyond human scale) to convert it. Catalytic converters do this but at high temperature. If there is a good point be said for CO then it takes as long to leave the body as it does to get into the blood stream. Clearly it should be avoided but provided your are not exposed to high levels (that of a person who smokes a cigarette) then the concern is less than for the other chemicals.

I hope this is of assistance.
