There are claims that worsening air pollution in Sheffield caused by increasing traffic congestion is posing a serious health threat.

A new survey today says the city has seen the biggest increase in traffic congestion of any major city in the UK. And it follows a government report which showed that Sheffield recorded SIX days last year when the air was potentially harmful to healthy people.

Environmental campaigners say air pollution is becoming so bad that urgent action is needed to drastically cut emissions.
